Aldo Mercado joined Boss Law Firm, APLC as an Associate Attorney in 2005 and became a Partner with the Firm in 2010.
Mr. Mercado handles various title, escrow and litigation issues for the Firm through the San Francisco office. He focuses in areas of title insurance coverage and resolving title defects arising in large complex shared common developments.
Mr. Mercado has prepared and advised on hundreds of title insurance coverage opinions. He has worked with various state and local agencies on land entitlement issues including rezoning and variance applications, along with having presented petitions in front of administrative judges and city counsel hearings.
While at Boss Law Firm, APLC, Mr. Mercado has conducted presentations for various clients on “An Overview of Title Claims in California”, “Utilizing ZIMAS in Los Angeles Real Estate Matters”, “Providing tips and techniques for complying with California Department of Insurance Regulations”, “Handling Homeowner Claims in California”, and “Paying Loss Under Homeowners’ Policies and its effect on tender of defense.”
Previously, Mr. Mercado worked as an intern with the Employee Benefits Security Administration handling ERISA related matters including managing majority of Spanish speaking cases, requiring extensive communication and writings with employees and employers regarding their ERISA qualified pension and welfare plans.
Mr. Mercado holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he was appointed class commencement speaker and recipient of the Stevenson College service award. Mr. Mercado earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco. While at the University of San Francisco, Mr. Mercado served as President of the SBA along with co-chair of the La Raza Student Association and survey editor of the Maritime Law Journal.
Mr. Mercado previously volunteered with the San Diego HOME Clinics advising people on their real property rights.
Mr. Mercado is fluent in Spanish.
